Red Team Thinking
in the Age of AI II
Everyone says keep a human in the loop. Nobody says what that human is supposed to do.
Reserve Your SeatEveryone Says Keep a Human in the Loop. Nobody Says Which Human.
It is the one line every organization now has in its AI policy, and it is meant to be reassuring. In practice it describes a single person — usually the most senior one in the room — reading four pages of machine-generated analysis and deciding whether it sounds right.
Most of the time it does sound right. That is precisely the problem. Fluency is not accuracy, and a plan that reads well is far harder to argue with than one that does not. So the room nods. The plan moves. Nobody has actually tested anything. That is not a loop. It is a rubber stamp with extra steps.
The fix is not a better prompt or a more careful reader. It is putting a team in the loop — and giving that team a method for taking the machine's work apart, out loud, without the loudest voice in the room deciding what the output meant.
Nothing gets a room arguing productively faster than a confident AI answer that is almost right.
That is not a throwaway line. It is the mechanism the second day is built on. The mild resentment people feel when a machine tells them what they think is the most reliable engagement device we have found in years of running these sessions. Used deliberately, with structure, it turns a passive review into a real interrogation — and the group ends up owning an answer instead of approving one.
One Tool, Taken Apart and Rebuilt for the Age of Machine Intelligence
Red Team Thinking® is a methodology for stress-testing decisions before reality does it for you — field-tested critical-thinking tools drawn from U.S. Army red teaming and cognitive science, used by businesses, militaries, and governments around the world.
This course goes deep on one of them. Four Ways of Seeing is our discipline for understanding how the other side actually sees you — the tool clients ask for most and struggle with hardest, because every part of it demands a subjective judgment about somebody else's mind. We have worked out precisely where AI makes it sharper, precisely where AI makes it worse, and what a team has to do to tell the difference.
Day One gives you the tool and the machine's help with it. Day Two takes the machine's own conclusions and puts a room full of people to work dismantling them. The sequence is the point.
Two Movements, One Discipline
Four Ways of Seeing, Augmented
Build the picture yourself, then put the machine to work on what you missed.
- Map how you see them and how they see you — then find the conflict and the synergy hiding in the gaps.
- Use AI to profile a stakeholder you can research, drawing on job postings, public writing, and open sources.
- Use a diagnostic approach to profile one you cannot — the internal team, the regulator, the family shareholder — where the AI interrogates you for the context it lacks.
- Compress the conflict-and-synergy analysis that normally eats an hour of expensive room time, with the judgment left where it belongs.
- Run Influencer Engineering™, our stakeholder mapping discipline, with the slowest part of it automated.
Teams in the Loop
Turn the discipline on the machine — as a group, with a method.
- Your group receives an action plan the AI built on its own: confident, articulate, and wrong in ways that are not immediately obvious.
- Work it hard: what did it miss, what did it get wrong, and where is it right in a way you hadn't considered?
- Use Think-Write-Share and adapted red teaming techniques that stop one voice deciding what the machine meant.
- Report back — the differences between what each group found are usually the most instructive part of the day.
- Leave with a repeatable loop you can run on your own decisions, and the judgment to know when to override it.

Participants receive the custom red teaming skills we build for this course, installed as a working plugin. They are yours to keep and yours to run — on your own stakeholders, your own launch, your own board — the Monday after the course ends. Alumni of the first course will find the new skills added to the same repository they already have.
- Two live, interactive sessions led by all three instructors
- Custom AI skills for stakeholder profiling and structured challenge, installed as a working plugin, with a guided walkthrough so everyone gets it running
- A complete course workbook to guide every exercise
- A purpose-built case study you'll work end to end
- Hands-on breakout practice with live coaching
- A certificate of completion from Red Team Thinking®
Built for People Whose Work Is Judgment
You do not need to have taken the first course. Day One opens with a condensed version of the AI-and-red-teaming foundation, so newcomers start on level ground. If you were in the first cohort, this is new material top to bottom — the case study returns, and nothing else does.
The course is built for people who make consequential decisions with incomplete information and other people's cooperation: executives and senior leaders, strategists and planners, programme and product leads, and the coaches, consultants, and facilitators who run rooms for a living. If you are responsible for a launch, a reorganization, or any plan that will succeed or fail on the basis of how a dozen other parties react to it, this is your tool.
No technical background is required. It is equally built for people who are further along with AI than their organizations are, and who have started to suspect that faster thinking is not the same thing as better thinking.
Taught by the People Who Wrote the Playbook
Bryce G. Hoffman
Bryce is the first and only civilian to graduate the U.S. Army's elite Red Team Leader course at Fort Leavenworth. A bestselling author of American Icon and Red Teaming, a Forbes columnist, and an internationally sought-after keynote speaker, he has taught his methodology to leadership teams, militaries, and government agencies around the world.
Chris Butler
Chris is co-founder of Symboulos, where he builds AI tools designed to provoke sharper thinking rather than supply faster answers. He was previously a product leader on GitHub's AI and Productivity team, with earlier roles in Google's machine-learning group, Microsoft, and Facebook Reality Labs, and he teaches a popular course on AI product design. That combination makes him uniquely suited to show where these systems help, where they mislead, and how to tell the difference.
Scott Henderson
Scott Henderson is Operations Director at Red Team Thinking® and a Certified Red Team Leader, Instructor, and Executive Coach. Over more than two decades, he has helped organizations navigate complexity — guiding leaders to build strategic clarity, make better decisions under pressure, and turn ambition into effective execution. As an instructor and coach, he brings the discipline of red teaming out of theory and into the room, where participants put it to work.
Tiered Pricing
Seats are sold in tiers. The price rises as each tier fills, and it does not come back down.
Every seat includes both live days, the custom AI skills, the workbook, the case study, and your certificate of completion. Last time the opening tier was gone in under twenty-four hours, and we could not reopen it — for anybody. When a tier is gone, it is gone.
Reserve Your SeatBefore You Enroll
Do I need to have taken the first course?
No. Day One opens with a condensed version of the AI-and-red-teaming foundation so newcomers start on level ground. If you did take the first course, this is new material throughout — we reuse the case study and nothing else.
Is this a live course?
Yes. Both sessions are fully live and interactive on Zoom, with real breakout practice and direct coaching. It is designed to be attended live — that's where the value is created. Recordings are provided afterward.
Do I need a technical background?
No coding knowledge is required. You will need a small plugin to run the custom skills we build for the course, and Chris takes the group through installing it step by step during the session itself — so there is nothing to set up, or figure out, on your own beforehand.
What time does it run in my zone?
Sessions begin at 11:30 AM EDT / 3:30 PM GMT / 8:30 AM PDT on both days and run two hours. Use the time-zone converter to check your local start time.
What will I walk away with?
The full Four Ways of Seeing method, custom AI skills you keep and can run on your own decisions, a repeatable protocol for putting AI output in front of a group without the group simply deferring to it — plus the workbook, the worked case study, and a certificate of completion.
The Machine Isn't the Threat.
Outsourcing Your Judgment Is.
Learn to use the most powerful thinking aid ever built — without letting it think for you, or for your team.
Reserve Your SeatTwo Ways to Pay
The first two tiers are gone. Seats are now $595, and you can pay for one in full or split it across two payments.
Both options are the same seat in the same course: two live days, the custom AI skills, the workbook, the case study, and your certificate of completion. The split costs $35 more overall and is charged automatically to the card you enroll with.
